The Aston Martin DB2, in production from May 1950 until April 1953, was David Browns first Aston Sporting Saloon with only 411 DB2 originally built. Its tubular steel chassis was based on that of the two-litre Sports, but newly hired engineer Ted Cutting shortened the wheelbase, added cruciform members, triangulation and an extra upper side-rail, providing, in essence, a stiff tubular space frame. She is renowned for her superb handling and impeccable quality, and be highly prized for its purity of design. Talented ex-Lagonda designer Frank Feeley penned the handsome coupe bodywork.

The DB2 production engine, borrowed from David Browns other car company, Lagonda, was the 2.6-litre, twin cam six-cylinder designed by W.O. Bentley. The engine in Vantage specification delivered 125  hp, 2,580 cc DOHC inline six-cylinder engine, large twin SU carburettors, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with coil springs, trailing links and anti-roll bar, live axle rear with coil springs, radius rods and Panhard bar, and Girling four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 99.25 inch.

Three works Aston Martin DB2 race cars were dispatched to Le Mans in 1950.
VMF 63 (LML/50/7) was 2nd in class and 6th overall.  VMF 64 (LML/50/8) was 5th overall and 1st on Index of Performance and in class. Unfortunately VMF 65 (LML/50/9) crashed on way to the race and sadly did not compete.  VMF 64 continued to compete by the factory in 1951 with a fantastic 3rd overall at Le Mans (1st in class)  and also in the Alpine Rally. In 1952, it also competed on the Mille Miglia (12th overall, 1st in class).

This Aston Martin DB2 Vantage car was manufactured in year 1952 and delivered to the new owner on the 1th of January 1953 by H.W. Motors. Chassis number: LML/50/277, engine number: B6B/50/1117, gearbox DBCW/50/471 are all matching numbers. Colour black with dark red enameled wire wheels and a dark red leather interior, as delivered by the factory.

This scarce and very beautiful DB2 Vantage was extensively restored and overhauled, the car is in suberb (excellent+) condition! Of great importance is the racing pedigree and documented history of this DB2 Vantage. In the hands of first owner British brewer Mr. Tony Everard the car raced successfully at Goodwood, Silverstone, Prescott, Gosport and Snetterton in the years 1953 and 1954. Tony Everard competed in seventeen races and achieved nine outright wins (first places), five second place finishes, and three third place finishes. The Aston martin DB2 finished all the seventeen races it entered!

He sold the car to the Mr. Sopwith in the UK. In 1987 it cames in ownership of one the descendants of the Bertelli family Giancarlo Bartelli in Italy, who sold the car to Cristiano Luzzago. At this moment the DB2 is registered in the Netherlands. In the years 2008 and 2011 the Aston Martin DB2 Vantage participated in the original Mille Miglia. Only 411 DB2 saloon models have been built of which a few dozen were factory original sold with the Vantage specifications.

This DB2 Vantage is a very scarce automobile with important and documented racing history. This Aston Martin is of great importance for the person who wants to enter the greatest historic racing events like the Goodwood revival races and the Mille Miglia for which you need an eligible car. This magnificent Aston Martin DB2 Vantage offers it all, matching numbers, documented (racing) history and meticulously restored to original specifications.
